Hello Braves Nation! I am excited to be joining you this year as Principal of Oconee County Middle School.  Before joining the OCMS family, I served as Assistant Principal at Madison County High School. Before transitioning to administration, I taught math at the high school and middle school levels. 

I cannot wait to see each one of you Connect, Serve, and Impact everyday at OCMS! Go Braves!

Mr. Brian Roberson, Assistant Principal

Brian Roberson is currently an assistant principal at OCMS.  His previous experience includes working as a Business and Marketing education teacher at the middle and high school levels, Assistant Principal at Kinchafoonee Primary School and Lee County High School, CTAE Director for the Lee County School System, as well as coaching baseball and softball for a number of years in Lee County and Glynn County.  

Mr. Roberson holds a B.A. in Business Administration from Valdosta State University, an M.B.A. from Georgia Southern University and an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership from Liberty University.  Mr. Roberson and his wife Kelly have two boys, Will and Nate.

Mr. Josh Martz, Assistant Principal

Josh Martz is currently the Assistant Principal of Oconee County Middle School. In 2005, he graduated from Georgia College and State University with a B.S. in History and, in 2006, a Master of Arts in Teaching, in Secondary Education. In 2015, Mr. Martz was one of a few candidates chosen to take part in the pilot leadership program at Kennesaw State University, where he received an Educational Specialist in Teacher Leadership.

After completing his Masters, Mr. Martz began his career in Greene County teaching high school History and Special Education, while coaching football and baseball. With a passion for growing student-athletes, he continued to teach and coach while in the Oglethorpe County School District and, most recently, at Lake Oconee Academy. During his time at Lake Oconee Academy, Mr. Martz served as the Advanced Placement (AP) Economics and Government teacher, Assistant Athletic Director, and coach of various sports, ultimately leading to two state golf championships.

In 2020, Martz was selected as the Dean of Students at Lake Oconee Academy, where he oversaw discipline, social-emotional wellness, and activities for all students, grades K-12. He also served as the coordinator for the school’s Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program. In 2021, he accepted the Assistant Principal role at Dove Creek Elementary.

Mr. Martz and his wife, Charlie, have one daughter - Caroline.
