Ms. Anne Poss, Principal

Anne Poss is in her first year as principal of Oconee County Middle School. Previously she served as a math teacher in Elbert and Madison counties and Assistant Principal at Madison County High School and Oconee County Middle School. Ms. Poss holds an Ed.S. in School Administration and Policy from the University of Georgia. Ms. Poss is excited for this new role serving the students, teachers, and community at OCMS.

Mrs. Katie Hunter, Assistant Principal

Katie Hunter is an experienced educational leader with more than 18 years in public education, including eight years serving as an assistant principal. Throughout her career, she has been passionate about creating positive school cultures, supporting teachers, and ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed. She has extensive experience leading school improvement initiatives, coordinating MTSS and PBIS systems, analyzing student achievement data, and partnering with educators and families to build strong learning communities. 

Katie earned her Educational Specialist degree in Early Childhood Education, a Masters of Education in Educational Psychology with a concentration in Gifted and Creative Education, and a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Georgia. She believes that meaningful relationships are the foundation of a thriving school community and is committed to fostering a welcoming, collaborative environment where students, staff, and families feel supported and valued.

Mr. Josh Martz, Assistant Principal

Josh Martz is currently the Assistant Principal of Oconee County Middle School. In 2005, he graduated from Georgia College and State University with a B.S. in History and, in 2006, a Master of Arts in Teaching, in Secondary Education. In 2015, Mr. Martz was one of a few candidates chosen to take part in the pilot leadership program at Kennesaw State University, where he received an Educational Specialist in Teacher Leadership.

After completing his Masters, Mr. Martz began his career in Greene County teaching high school History and Special Education, while coaching football and baseball. With a passion for growing student-athletes, he continued to teach and coach while in the Oglethorpe County School District and, most recently, at Lake Oconee Academy. During his time at Lake Oconee Academy, Mr. Martz served as the Advanced Placement (AP) Economics and Government teacher, Assistant Athletic Director, and coach of various sports, ultimately leading to two state golf championships.

In 2020, Martz was selected as the Dean of Students at Lake Oconee Academy, where he oversaw discipline, social-emotional wellness, and activities for all students, grades K-12. He also served as the coordinator for the school’s Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program. In 2021, he accepted the Assistant Principal role at Dove Creek Elementary.

Mr. Martz and his wife, Charlie, have one daughter - Caroline.
